Carpet Mats
Carpet mats may be created either on or off of the loom. There are many different method of creating these items. For instance, some may be classified as woven, others needle felt, and still others as tufted. These three methods are among the most popular. However, it is wise to remember that there are a lot more of such options.
Like cloth, woven carpet mats are created on a loom. They often have cut pile. The pile is the raised surface of carpet, created by upright strands of yarn in the weaving process. As stated, they often have cut pile, though not necessarily so.
Needle felt carpet mats, on the other hand, involves having fibers compressed with needles. This compression is then fixed with various binding agents. This is very durable. For that reason, it is preferred in hotels and other areas which see a lot of traffic.
Finally, tufted carpets are created with the injection of pile into a backing material. A second backing material is also used to encourage durability. This is the most common method chosen for the creation of domestic carpets.
