Carpet Rugs
Carpet rugs may be created in any of a number of ways. These include being woven, needle felt, knotted, or tufted. Other options include flat weave and hooked styles.
When it comes to material, carpet rugs may be loom-woven, felted textile, or even created from grass. Interestingly enough, such creations were primarily used for table and wall coverings before the 18th century in Europe. The word comes from the Armenian term, "karpet." The "kar" in that phrase refers to a knot or a stitch.
Carpet rugs of the embroidery variety are not created on a loom. Instead, their attractive patterns are created by stitches being applied to a cloth base. Linen is the most common choice for such a base. When it comes to stitch types, the tend stitch and cross stitch are two of the most popular methods.
